Gainesville busses

Gainesville operates a network of busses for more or less ferrying residents around the city. As I live at the end of a distant appendage of Gainesville, the bus that occasionally deigns to stop by (Number 75) is perhaps an unfair reflection of the state of public transport in Gainesville. It is on this bus, and the Number 1, which serves the second leg (thigh?) of my journey to the university, that I have developed a theory of bus drivers.

My unsubstantiated opinion is that the bus drivers decide, when you step on the bus, where you will sit. They do not, of course, tell you, or in any explicit way make this known to you. But, as you are making your way gingerly down the centre aisle, the bus suddenly speeds forward, you lurch towards the 7th row, the brakes are slammed and the bus does a sharp turn to right - and you end up in the lefthand seat in row 6, whether you wanted to or not - 10 points to the driver, whose poorly concealed grin can be seen in the rearview mirror...
